Tell the City: Wetlands Matter!

The City of San Diego has a chance to restore habitat for wildlife, protect our communities from climate change, create cleaner water for all of Mission Bay, and give San Diegans a chance to play in nature in our own backyard.
But they need to know we care. Join us and make your voice heard.

Lisa ChaddockDo you want to learn about edible local plants, and how to cook with them? Cooking with Native Plants is an exciting new course that is being offered as part of the Nature Discovery Workshop Series. This workshop will delve into how to find and harvest native foods, and will discuss how people historically used the food sources surrounding us in the Coastal Sage Scrub habitat. Students will get to sample Acorn Flower Biscuits, Orange & Fennel Salad and Fennel Hot Pot Soup. As part of the course, you will receive your own wild edible cookbook. After the class there will be a short walk along some of the Anstine-Audubon trails to look at edible plants for identification. Workshop leader Lisa Chaddock (left) is an assistant professor of Geography at San Diego City College, and has studied the native plant foods of our region for 25 years.
