FAA Island Habitat Restoration

Want to help endangered species while exploring a typically inaccessible part of Mission Bay? Join us Saturday, March 11th, 2017 as we restore native habitat to benefit endangered sand dune plants and the California Least Tern!

We will be working from 9:30 am - 12:45 pm, but plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early! All volunteers should come prepared to pull out invasive plants, rake up plant matter, and get dirty! Jobs will be assigned on site according to need and ability. Remember to wear pants, hiking boots, and rain/sun protection. All gear will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of work gloves if you have them. We’ll provide water, but bring a reusable bottle for refills.

Please note that all interested volunteers MUST RSVP, as we will be taking a boat to the island. If you don't RSVP, you won't have a seat! Contact Megan Flaherty, Conservation Project Coordinator at flaherty@sandiegoaudubon.org or (858) 273-7800 x106 if you are interested in participating.
