mountain lion tracks Jill cooperBecome a nature detective! Wildlife trackers piece together clues left behind in the environment to gain a richer picture of the variety of animals using a habitat and read the story of their behavior. We’ll evaluate tracks and signs to determine who’s been there and what they’ve been doing. This class will be taught by SDAS Education Associate/Volunteer Manager, Jill Cooper. Jill is a trained biologist who has been tracking wildlife for more than ten years. The course will include an evening in-class session, paired with a morning field day practicing our skills out on the trail at Border Field State Park. At the workshop, you’ll become familiar with common local wildlife species, learn basic track and sign identification, avoid the pitfalls of perception, learn how to distinguish between mountain lion and domestic dog tracks (which are confused more often than not), and more.

But they need to know we care. Join us and make your voice heard.

re wild mission bay
The ReWild Mission Bay team spent the winter reviewing public input and scientific feedback on the eight initial wetlands restoration alternatives released last fall.

See the initial eight restoration alternatives here.

We are using this feedback to create three final plans for how wetlands can be restored in northeast Mission Bay.

Today, we are excited to announce draft versions of these three final plans will be released to the public on April 25th so our community has an opportunity to provide input before the alternatives are finalized.
